Barnsley Football Club gets first National Citizen Service sign ups
14 February 2012
‘WWV’s Project Manager Laura (left) and Chris Dolby (right), Education Officer at Barnsley FC pose with five new recruits for this summer’s NCS programme. The students, from Kingstone High School in Barnsley, will join other 16 year olds for two weeks of outward bound and team-building activities, and then tackle a community-based social action project. WWV is working alongside the Football League to engage young people from secondary schools in London, Yorkshire and Lincolnshire to take up places on the NCS scheme, carried out by the clubs’ community trusts. Laura says ‘It’s wonderful to see young people so excited about this programme; they will have a great time gaining new skills and confidence, and creating projects that will make a real difference to their communities.’
